A crowd pleasing favorite, especially on a cold winters night, the crunchy cinnamon topping goes perfectly with tart pie apples! Served hot with cold ice cream and whipped cream, yum!!

what you’ll need
400g tin pie apples
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons self raising flour
3 tablespoons coconut
Cinnamon
To serve:
vanilla ice cream
whipped cream
Method
To a bowl add the butter, sugar, flour and coconut. Sprinkle over some ground cinnamon. Mix.
Add the cold butter and with your fingers rub in the butter until well incorporated and the mixture is “sand” like.
Put the pie apples into a casserole dish. Small enough that the apple is about 3cm thick.
Sprinkle over the crumble mix and smooth roughly. Sprinkle generously with extra cinnamon.
Heat oven to 180oC. Bake the crumble for 20—25 minutes or until the top is browned slightly and the apples are hot.
Serve hot with ice cream and cream.
Tips:
· To make a larger crumble, use an 800gm tin of apples and double the crumble mixture.
· Oats or slithered almonds can be added to the crumble for more texture.
· Crumble can be made the day before. Cook just before serving.
